Let me go upstairs, shooter
I often think to myself how awesome shooters are, so much so that I notice stupid little things I probably shouldn’t. I also play shooters too much. They are quite simply put, my favourite video game genre. Only recently though, have I noticed something terrible, something so absurd, something that has scarred me for life.
What is this “something”?
The stairs are blocked.
“What?!?”, I hear you cry, but you heard me right. Am I the only one who has noticed how often the stairs are blocked? I must say, developers have been pretty smart. They have thought up more objects to stuff onto these stairs than my poor brain can handle.
Tables, chairs, desks, or simply a giant hole, along with a pile of other things are used to block these stairs. My big question is, “Why, just why, must you block the stairs?”. Sure, plenty of buildings in these games do allow you to head upstairs, but rarely if it isn’t part of the mission. I run through millions of houses, but when I get bored, I like to explore. No, don’t tell me to play RPG’s, they don’t have enough guns.
Are the developers too lazy to build an upstairs? Is it a memory issue, to add a tiny little area into your giant map, that already doesn’t lag? Be creative, stick something upstairs!
All I wanted to do was go upstairs…
