Call of Duty 7 in Vietnam, story removed

By: Reilly | at 9:58 pm

For the past few days rumors about the inevitable Call of Duty 7 have been flying around the internet. TVGB released an article stating that Call of Duty 7 is to take place during the Vietnam war. This news was brought to them by “A source we consider reliable”.  This source claims that Activision has been searching for the liscenses to Vietnam War-era, African, Cuban and Soviet Union music.

Also claimed by this source is that Noah Heller, senior producer for Call of Duty: World At War, would be leading this game. If that is to be true, that means Treyarch will be developing the game. To be more sure that this is true, we have a quote from Heller from last year, I’m sure game companies will be making World War II games for years to come and World War II is a very classic war. But we’re happy that we put the war to bed.”

Now, one last thing remains to increase our belief of this story. Just today, after this story hit many websites, the “reliable source” asked TVGB to remove the article. This can be taken in two ways. First, this source may have feared the loss of his job (assuming he was employed by Activision). This could also hint that this is a lie, and if found out the source didn’t want to be the one to be blamed.

“Whoops, looks like talking about this is too soon for some people and our source has requested of us to remove the story. Because we’re rather fond of the guy, we’ll comply this time. Hell, it is probably too soon to talk about CoD7 anyway. After all, we don’t even know all that much about Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 right now. But that should change come E3 2009.

Our thanks and apologies to everyone who linked to the story.”

Really guys, Call of Duty 6 (Modern Warfare 2) isn’t even out yet. Can’t you speculate about that at least?
